Annual General Body Meeting of Federation for New States (FNS)
Vision: India 50-50:2050
India a Union of 50 States producing GDP of USD 50 trillion by 2050 when we celebrate the Centenary of our Republic.
Building a Stronger India Through Stronger States
The Federation for Smaller States (FNS) is a national organization committed to promoting balanced regional development through the creation of administratively efficient and economically viable smaller states within the constitutional framework of India.
FNS believes that India's diversity is one of its greatest strengths. However, many regions continue to experience uneven development due to geographical size, administrative challenges, and unequal distribution of resources. Our mission is to advocate for governance that is closer to the people, enabling every region to realize its full economic and social potential.
The organization traces its ideological roots to the movement initiated by the late George Fernandes, who believed that decentralized governance is essential for strengthening Indian democracy and accelerating inclusive development. Today, FNS continues this vision by working with policy experts, academics, social organizations, public representatives, and citizens across the country.
Why Smaller States?
India has witnessed the successful formation of several smaller states over the last few decades. These experiences have demonstrated that smaller administrative units often provide better governance, improved public service delivery, faster infrastructure development, and greater public participation.
